Protecting Taxpayers – Providing Results
As mayor, I will:
NO CANNABIS: Protect schools and residential neighborhoods
- Request a formal review of the cannabis zoning ordinance.
- Introduce or support a repeal or amendment ordinance that reinstates stricter buffer zones (e.g., 1,000 feet from schools, playgrounds, and residential zones).
- Work with Planning Board to recommend new zoning overlays that restrict cannabis businesses to specific commercial corridors, far from sensitive areas.
- Evaluate if Edison can enact temporary moratoriums on new cannabis applications while zoning is reassessed Enable legal team to look into this matter on priority.
Public Safety: A Smarter, Safer Edison
- Increase active police patrols with a focus on dynamic, visible presence.
- Use advanced AI technology to predict crime trends and deploy resources where they are needed most.
- Establish a new police substation on New Dover Road to improve response times and enhance neighborhood safety.
- Modernize police training with continuous, scenario-based programs and provide the latest non-lethal equipment.
- Implement strong accountability measures through transparent reviews and community-driven feedback.
- Invest in neighborhood prevention programs and youth outreach to address the roots of crime before they grow.
Safety is not negotiable. It’s the foundation of a thriving community. Together, we will build a smarter, stronger, safer Edison.
